March 10, 1995. Microsoft ships Bob: not a desktop, a home. Rooms you could redecorate. A clock that opened your calendar. A cartoon dog named Rover who explained everything in a speech balloon.
It needed 8 MB of RAM in a world that had 4. It was, in every sense, too early.

The Rug Pull
Around 58,000 copies sold. Bob was discontinued within a year, then spent decades on every “worst product ever” list humans could compile: #7 at PC World, #1 of the decade at CNET.
Microsoft went on to be worth trillions. The house went dark. Nobody let the dog out.

Bob Comes Home
Bob reboots on Robinhood Chain, launched on Pons and paired against tokenized MSFT, the stock of the company that shut him down.
Every candle is a receipt. The friendliest interface ever shipped now settles on-chain, and the dog is finally getting paid.
FUN FACT
Comic Sans exists because of Bob. In 1994, Microsoft designer Vincent Connare saw a beta of Bob where Rover’s speech bubbles were set in Times New Roman and thought a cartoon dog shouldn’t talk in a newspaper font. He drew a new typeface over a weekend, inspired by the hand lettering in comics like Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns. It still missed Bob: the letters didn’t fit the text boxes Bob’s UI was already built around, so the final release shipped with Times New Roman after all. Comic Sans debuted instead in Microsoft 3D Movie Maker, then rode the Windows 95 Plus! Pack onto millions of PCs. Bob failed. Bob’s font won.
